Linda Macintyre MCSP SRP

Chartered Physiotherapist
Craniosacral Therapist
I've always had an interest in integrating conventional and complementary therapies, so after graduating as a Physiotherapist from the University of Sydney in 1999, I pursued post-graduate studies in fields such as Acupuncture, the Bowen Technique and now, Craniosacral Therapy. I have worked in a wide range of settings, both private and public, including sports (1st grade Rugby Union), rehabilitation, women's health and paediatrics, and joined Windsor Remedy Centre in 2002.
I have been especially drawn to Craniosacral work as it is one of the few styles of treatment I've found that addresses the whole person. It gets to the root cause of imbalances not only on a physical level, but on mental and emotional levels as well. I will graduate as a Craniosacral Therapist in July 2007 and my treatments will involve a careful assessment of the client before choosing which modality (or combination) is going to be most effective.
The two men in my life – Sam (3 years old) and his father Dan (marginally older) – keep me busy and highly entertained these days. Our little family can usually be found exploring the world, trekking, camping or chasing cheeky dragons in nearby woods. Sam is one of the reasons I have been drawn to Craniosacral work – his recurrent ear infections, sleep problems and tantrums are a thing of the past after a couple of treatments... I will say no more!
In addition to working at Windsor Remedy Centre, I plan to continue post-graduate courses in Craniosacral Therapy (including paediatrics) and counselling, and travel to Kenya to establish a part-time practice.

Reflexologist
I worked in a high stress corporate environment for many years, seeing first hand the impact it had on the people working in it. The desire to alleviate the impact that stress & illness can have, led me to follow up my lifelong interest in alternative therapies. I trained & qualified in what’s widely considered to be the best college in Europe for Massage, and went on to add lymphatic drainage & reflexology to my practise.
With Massage, I love seeing the difference in clients between when they first arrive, often stressed & tight and when they leave, calm, relaxed & smiling. Massage is not only deeply relaxing, but also releases tension from specific muscle areas. It stimulates muscles & tissue, improving circulation and aiding rehabilitation.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a specialist form of massage, designed to improve the functioning of the lymphatic system. The Lymphatic system is responsible for fighting infection in the body, and speeding up repair to damaged tissues. This very gentle & rhythmical form of massage involves movement of the skin to stimulate the lymphatic vessels to remove waste products from the tissue. Amongst other things, it is particularly good for clearing fluid retention.
Reflexology is a deeply calming therapy, whose principles date back over 5,000 years. The feet are gently stimulated to encourage the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance. It is great for back pain, pregnancy, sleep related conditions, migraine & digestive disorders.
So if you feel like leaving your week behind you, come and visit me at my Saturday clinic at Remedy, and walk out feeling better than when you walked in!

In my personal journey towards better health for me and my family, I was introduced to homeopathy over 23 years ago. I was sufficiently impressed to train as a homeopath, but bring to it a wealth of knowledge gained from my scientific background.
Following a four year course and a 5th clinical year under supervision, I was admitted to the Register of the Society of Homeopaths in 1997. I have been in continuous practice ever since.
I recently refreshed my Degree by taking a Diet and Nutrition Diploma, so my advice now incorporates the latest research.
A new and exciting approach in boosting health is Neuro- Emotional Technique. At the time of writing, I am the only Homeopath in the UK who has been approved for training by Drs Scott and Deb Walker. Dr. Scott Walker is the creator of the technique, which he developed in the course of 43 years as a Doctor of Chiropractic. NET celebrated its 20th year in 2007and is a wonderful technique that enhances optimal structural function of the skeleton, muscles and joints.
Pilates
Developed from the rehabilitation techniques of Joseph Pilates, this is a safe, sensible exercise system using a floor mat or equipment, that will help you look and feel your very best. No matter what your age or condition, it will work for you. Pilates improves core strength, flexibility, agility and economy of motion. It can even help alleviate back pain and other chronic ailments.
We are fortunate at Windsor Remedy Centre to have one of the most experienced local Pilates teachers, Christine Jackman. Christine is available for personal 1:1 tuition and for courses of small weekly classes. The exclusivity of these classes (5 students maximum) ensures you of the highest quality of personal tuition, rather than feeling lost at the back of a large class elsewhere!
