Dr Anita Biswas BMBS MRCGP FFSEM MSc (Sports Med)

Specialist in Sports & Exercise Medicine
Having qualified at Nottingham University in 1993 I worked in Accident and Emergency and then paediatrics before taking a year out to study for a Masters degree in Sports Medicine at The Royal London Hospital. I completed my General Practice training before working for a year at Headley Court, the Tri-services Medical Rehabilitation centre. I was the first Clinical Fellow in Medicine at the Department of Sport and Exercise Medicine at the Queen Medical Centre in Nottingham before moving back to the London area.
I have been working in sports medicine with national and international sports teams (including football, cycling, athletics, rugby and tennis) for over 10 years and currently also work at the Olympic Medical Institute and the English Institute of Sport. I have worked with Elite athletes with a disability since 2000 and am proud to have been the Chief Medical Officer of the British Paralympic Association since 2002. I have attended two Summer and one Winter Paralympic Games, The Commonwealth Games in Manchester, as well as numerous European and World Championships in a variety of sports. I am currently involved in the planning of medical services for the 2012 Olympic/Paralympic Games in London.
I have a particular interest in Adolescent and endurance athletes and my holistic approach, incorporating the skills of other practitioners such as chiropractors, physiotherapists, massage therapists, nutritionists and sports coaches, aims to ensure that my patients are able to return safely to their chosen sport or activity.
Outside of work I practise as I preach, and enjoy all forms of exercise and sport. I travel regularly to remote mountains that need climbing.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession concerned with human function and movement and maximising potential.
Physiotherapy is far more than fixing musculo-skeletal sports injuries, although that is perhaps the most common perception of the profession, and certainly the most common reason that patients contact Windsor Remedy Centre for care.
Your physiotherapist will take a detailed history of your condition and thoroughly examine both the immediate site of injury and the whole of your musculo-skeletal system. This ensures that not only is the injury treated, but the underlying imbalances and stresses that have contributed to it are addressed too.
At Windsor Remedy Centre our physiotherapists not only accept their own patients for treatment, but also provide integrated care along with the chiropractors to fully rehabilitate an acute injury. Often a home exercise routine will be prescribed to facilitate the chiropractic treatment already received.
We believe that this integrated care provides the best of both worlds and ensures your optimal recovery and well being.
All of our physiotherapists are experienced members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.

Chartered Physiotherapist
I was born in South Africa and studied physiotherapy at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg where I graduated with honours in 2002.
As well as being a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, I am also a member of the acupuncture association for chartered physiotherapists, and the association for chartered physiotherapists in sport medicine.
My special interests are lumbar (low back) and cervical (neck) problems, sports and muscle / ligament injuries and core stability rehabilitation incorporating pilates – essential for full rehabilitation of spinal injuries.

Chartered Physiotherapist
I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1999 and joined Windsor Remedy Centre in 2005. I work here two evenings a week – ideal for those patients who need their appointments after work!
My full-time post is in the NHS – I help to run the very busy physiotherapy department at King Edward VII Hospital.
I enjoy all aspects of physiotherapy but my special interests lie within trauma and sports injuries (I’ve had a few!), core stability rehabilitation (essential for spinal injuries) and acupuncture. I also really enjoy teaching and assessing the physiotherapy students at the hospital.

Chartered Physiotherapist
I qualified in physiotherapy from Liverpool University in 1993.
Since then I have worked as a Senior Physiotherapist in Berkshire, in both the public and private sectors, with special interest in sports injuries and spinal rehabilitation.
I joined Windsor Remedy Centre in July 2005, and am available Mondays & Thursdays. I enjoy the relaxed friendly atmosphere at the clinic, and love to help patients achieve their goals - whether they be to walk without pain or to compete in elite-level sports.
My husband John and I spend most of our free time running around after our young son Josh! With what time we have left we love sports, travelling and surfing.
